Blood Drag was started in Florida as the result of an Xtreme Lowz club member being injured in a motorcycle accident. The immediate need to collect blood for his recovery was met and then the event just kept going on every year with the goal of collecting blood for others who needed it. The club still gives out an award for the Most Club-Donated Blood as part of its historical awareness and community ties.
Blood Drag's biggest show to date was in West Palm, Florida, with 1,100 registered rides and 15,000 spectators. It was only natural that a California version of the show would eventually make it onto the schedule. The Rancho Cucamonga show was held on the grounds of Universal Technical Institute and was considered a big success by all in attendance.
UTI gave tours of its facility and had information on hand for financial aid and job placement. Plenty of vendors kept the spectators busy and the food was better than what you usually expect at a show.
