Controlling the stereo system...
Controlling the stereo system is the Pioneer navigation/head unit. The second smaller screen at the bottom of the console is the readout for the SCT tuner.
Body mods were next, beginning with the T-Rex grille and side vents, powdercoated satin black to match the 22-inch KMC XD Diesel wheels. The Ansani front bumper gives the truck a distinctive look with its three KC HiLites lights. All the lighting was converted to HID, and the smoked covers over the headlights and taillights were created with House of Kolor paint added to the clear. Recon lighted side mirrors provide a commanding view from the driver seat and Amp Research steps magically appear when the doors are opened. The bed holds the tank for the water/methanol injection and displays the unique 4-inch dual exhaust setup that was created in-house. The truck does not run any mufflers, and it sounds great!
Upgrades to the twin-turbo 6.4L include an intercooler charge tube, Snow Performance methanol injection, BD Power Boost Scoop on the passenger fender that funnels air to the turbos, SCT TSX Bluetooth wireless chip, and an open 4-inch exhaust.
Cary wanted a stereo that...
Cary wanted a stereo that was loud and clear. The new, full-length center console (painted to match the exterior) holds the four Memphis 10-inch subs, guaranteed to produce some booming bass.
As distinctive as it is on the outside, it’s inside where the truck really shines. The elaborate stereo begins with a Pioneer AVIC-X920BT Automobile Portable Navigator head unit that controls the system, beginning with the three Memphis MOJO M-Class amplifiers mounted in the headliner. The first amp sends 2,500 watts to the four Memphis Car Audio 10-inch C3-10 subs in the new center console, all inverted and positioned at different angles for the appropriate wow factor. The second amp sends 1,000 watts to the multiple 6.5-inch component sets in the doors while the third 175-watt amplifier energizes the 8-inch components (also in the doors). Jarrett Penaluna is the shop’s stereo expert who accomplished the install. As an added touch, the scary skull murals on the fiberglass enclosures were done with luminous paint so everything glows in the dark.
The front doors hold a pair...
The front doors hold a pair of 6.5-inch component sets, a single 8-inch component set, and a pair of lighted crossovers, all in a custom fiberglass enclosure that’s been airbrushed to match the exterior. The rear doors share a similar package with each door holding two 6.5-inch component sets.
The lift kit and stereo added their share of weight, so the final step was performance. The twin-turbo 6.4L uses a combination of a cold-air charge tube, Snow Performance Stage 3 MPG-MAX methanol injection, BD Power ram-air scoop for a breath of fresh air, H&S Performance Black Maxx Hot Damn tuner, and a custom free-flowing 4-inch open exhaust with twin pipes exiting from the bed. Even with the extra weight, the big truck turned 14.9 seconds on the strip. Cary says there are a few more performance upgrades on the schedule.
