The outside of the HD has been noticeably changed with a very unique vinyl scheme since the date of our photo shoot. But at the time, it wasn’t without some subtle exterior additions, such as a stubby antenna, an 8-inch semi-stack pipe, and smoked taillights.
When you lay concrete for a living, you can’t drive a wimpy car. If you drive a concrete truck and run the crane, you really shouldn’t show up to work in anything but a lifted diesel truck.
Tyler Wood does all of the above. You know those concrete trucks with the huge arms attached that can lay a city block in two hours? That’s what Wood drives and operates during the day. When off the job, his rig is nearly as productive. The Chevy Silverado 2500HD you see before you has been noticeably kitted out and can tow nearly anything, according to Wood.
“I bought this truck as a daily driver,” he said. “I needed something that would clear 40s with ease. I had to get a Chevy for that.”
The 6.6L Duramax diesel is getting a boost via a number of upgrades, including a race accelerator and standalone injection pumps from PPE. ATS provided the atomizer fuel rail pressure controller. While the turbo is stock, it does have a VGT actuator and PPE boost valve. PPE also supplied the intake mod. While not the most intensely modifed motor, these boltons allow for 480 to 500 hp. And more importantly, 890 to 1,010 lb-ft of torque—enough for Tyler to tow pretty much anything that gets hooked up.
Wood switched to Chevys after hitting a few hiccups modifying his Dodges. “I had a Dodge Mega Cab and had nothing but trouble from day two. Dodge voided my warranty on my last truck after telling me my tires were too big when the tranny went out for the second time at 12,000 miles. I told myself—and Dodge—I would never buy another one. I have been a Chevy guy ever since.”
Since the photo shoot, Wood has performed myriad modifications to the truck with the help of Mile Hi Motorsports, including bumper steps and chrome shocks. “I have done so much more with the truck since the shoot,” he said. “There’s a whole new graphic scheme.”
Well, keep up the good work. We might just have to give the White Knight a second pass at the joust when you’re done.

The interior may look stock, but there is dash work from Soapoint Graphics as well as a full-on system with components from Kenwood and Focal. As you can see, the view from the cabin looks a little like the Millenium Falcon at warp speed thanks to the Duramax’s prodigious amount of torque.
