Austin O'Krinsky built this...
Austin O'Krinsky built this '08 Chevrolet 2500HD to get attention for his shop, Extreme Offroad & Performance in Katy, Texas.
It's always a feel-good story when a father and son can share the same interests and maybe even work together in a business. The story of Austin and Michael O'Krinsky, however, goes just a bit further.
Michael is the president of Extreme Offroad & Performance in Katy, Texas (near Houston), and Austin is the vice president. Some people might wonder if a 21-year-old vice president was simply given the title as a nice gesture. Definitely not the case here. Austin has been deeply involved in building trucks since he was about 15 years old and is one of the main reasons this shop is on the rise.
As the owners of Extreme, the two opened the Katy store in 2007 with a certain vision. They wanted every customer to walk out happier than when they walked in. Many say the experience you get at Extreme is totally different than you will get anywhere else. They give everyone first-class treatment and have excellent accommodations.
Even the engine compartment...
Even the engine compartment was finished off like a show truck, but this one gets driven regularly.
Austin knew he had to build himself a shop truck that would be the kind of thing that would attract a lot of attention and shine a positive light on Extreme Offroad & Performance. In only four months of working after-hours, this truck more than delivered on the objective. Called Extrm2, this '08 Chevy 2500HD sports real flames, thanks to the outstanding efforts of S&T Autobody in Katy. House of Kolors Red served as the base color on the Chevy and a bunch of candy was thrown into the flames. The smoked Recon Truck Accessories taillight lenses are the perfect accent for a truck that sports real flames.
While the organic flames pretty much define this truck, the attention to perfection does not stop with the cosmetics. The suspension is a 16-inch lift kit from 3rd Coast Suspension (3rdcoastsuspension.com), a company that is located in Pasadena, Texas. Fox Racing shocks were used to keep the truck riding smoothly, and SSBC brakes were installed so the big HD could be stopped safely. RBP 91R wheels (22-inch) in black give just the right feel, while the Toyo Open Country M/T 40-inch tires complete the visual effect.
When you look under the truck to marvel at all the cool chassis mods, you definitely notice the frame has been filled and painted gloss black. That took a lot of work, and it's something Austin says he's not sure he'd want to do again.
The Chevy's engine benefits from a Quadzilla Stealth 2 power programmer and a DPF delete. A BDS turbo helps boost the power, too. An AFE Stage 2 intake ensures plenty of incoming air, while the MBRP 4-inch turbo-back exhaust expels all the spent gases. The engine compartment was also completely worked over and then painted.

The differentials were treated to Mag-Hytec covers and 4.88 gears from Genuine Gear. A lengthened, high-strength, aluminum driveshaft accommodates the extra-big lift the truck enjoys.
The interior is decked out with Roadwire leather seats for extreme comfort and a Kenwood nav so you never get lost. A JL Audio system provides tunes with a custom fiberglass subwoofer enclosure and lots of power.
The bottom line is this truck is definitely worthy of being called extreme, and it's an accurate rendition of the kind of work the father and son team perform at their shop.
