Sad News
Just after the January issue came out with a cool story on the Weekend On The Edge event, word came to us that we had run a couple of photos of Quinn Jessen. Ordinarily, people are thrilled to see their picture in 8-Lug magazine. Unfortunately, Quinn didn't get that chance. His wife sent us this email: "Hello my name is Mandy Jessen. My husband Quinn, along with his truck, was pictured in your magazine in the January issue regarding the diesel drag races at Rocky Mountain Speedway in Utah. On January 5 he was terribly hurt at work, and on January 11 he lost his life. He never knew he was in the magazine. We found out the day after he died."
We have received several other emails from friends of Quinn and we can only say that we are so sorry to hear about this. We're re-running the two photos of him and his truck here.
New Biodiesel Terminal In Wisconsin
Wish you could find biodiesel? Check this out. Innovation Fuels, the New York-based renewable fuel company that manufactures, markets, and distributes biodiesel fuel to customers around the world, has announced it has partnered with Tanco Milwaukee LLC, an affiliate of Hammond, Indiana-based Wolf Lake Terminals to create Innovation Fuels Tanco Milwaukee. The new company operates its 312,000-barrel capacity terminal on 10 acres in the Port of Milwaukee. The new IFT Milwaukee hub is the first terminal in the country that is totally dedicated to the sale and distribution of renewable fuels.

1,000HP 6.0L Power Stroke
Tim "DalPilot" SCHERER from Competitiondiesel.com sent us a photo of the diesel drag racer the Competitiondiesel.com crew is building. It's an '03/'04/'05 (adapted the best parts from the different years into one engine) 6.0L that's bored to 6.1L. It uses custom billet Crower reduced-length rods, a custom-ground Crower cam, Mahle pistons, twin turbos, ported heads, and huge injectors from Ryan Casserly. The truck will use TCI's first-ever 5R110 tranny with billet internals, and a 2,600-rpm-stall-speed TCI billet torque converter. Plans are for a dual-stage nitrous system, but they're willing to add more stages if needed. The truck has two racing seats for twice the fun. They expect 1,000 hp in a 3,500-pound truck.
