Fast Maxx
Kelsie Epp drives this '03 Duramax in Alberta, Canada, and plenty of other places, too-like the dragstrips she frequents. "I'm not one of those people who got into racing because my family does it," 20-year-old Kelsie told us. "My friends introduced me to it and I enjoy it so much I will probably never stop doing it." Currently, her LB7 engine uses an EFILive program and a custom-built Allison transmission. The near future will see a completely unique engine with the goal to be the fastest stock-turbo LB7 around.
Feature Truck
"I'm just letting you know that my truck is back up and running," David Huff wrote to us. "I have emailed my photographer and we are working on getting our schedules together to do a shoot." David is trying to get a full feature together for us on his truck. "I have also heard from four different people in the past week that they saw my truck in a magazine this month, and I didn't remember submitting it for anything. Only one could finally tell me it was 8-Lug and that it was from the Tex Mex show I attended. That was quite a surprise."
I Was Wondering...
A lot of letters start out just like this one from Justin Chavez of Highlands Ranch, Colorado: "I was wondering if my truck is nice enough to be in 8-Lug." The answer is usually yes. "My Y2K Excursion has a custom 11-inch lift, chrome Fox shocks, chrome hoop bars, torque bars, sway bars and links, 40-inch Toyo tires, 22-inch XD Diesel wheels, high-mount steering, 4:56 gears, custom ATS turbo, custom ATS Stage 3 tranny with billet shafts, ATS fuel system, Industrial Injection 100hp injectors, Mag-Hytec front and rear diff covers, Mag-Hytec tranny pan, Zex 75hp nitrous system, AFE intake, Banks intercooler tubes, and a custom 4-inch downpipe with straight-through 5-inch exhaust." Justin says the dyno showed 497 hp and 1,100 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels. He spun off two drivelines before ATS built him a custom driveline. The work was done by Mile Hi Motorsports and Five-R Trucks in Denver, Colorado.
