Looking For 10s
Nolan Westerlund lives in Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada, and he drives this '03 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. He's done a lot to the truck in his quest to run 10-second quarter-miles. In fact, it's currently getting twin turbos installed by Lloyd customs. So far the truck has a 7.1L stroker engine from SoCal Diesel with SoCal's Stage 2 race heads (with titanium retainers). It also has PPE Dual Fuelers and an EFILive tuner. The 4-inch exhaust is straight-piped to a 6-inch stack. The injectors are Competition Series from DDP and a GT4202R turbo increases the boost. A Zex Nitrous kit with a machine gun purge takes things over the top, and the NADP race-series transmission keeps the truck on the road.
First Diesel
"This is my first diesel and I bought it new in September
2007," Ben Ormond of Greenville, North Carolina, wrote us. "Unfortunately, it sat for a little more than two years while I was working in Iraq as a civilian fire chief. Now that I'm home, the diesel bug has bit me and I cannot stop making modifications to it." The truck has an S&B cold-air intake, Edge Juice with Attitude, and 17-inch Ultra Motorsports Goliath wheels with Toyo A/T Open Country tires. Go Recon smoked LED taillights, a third brake light, and backup lights really add to the appearance of the truck. Ben uses a Kleinn train horn that belts out 154 decibels to deal with his road rage.
Bigger Than Big
This 2000 Ford Excursion has a custom 11-inch lift and runs 22-inch XD Diesel Wheels and 40-inch Toyo tires. Dual chrome Fox reservoir shocks are attached to chrome hoop bars. There are chrome sway bars and links, chrome torque bars, and a chrome Fox steering stabilizer, too. Owner Justin Chavez of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, is a member of DGAF Motorsports and likes to point out that the truck has a custom 4-inch downpipe with a straight-through chrome 5-inch exhaust stack that was taken off a semitruck. A custom ATS turbo gets things moving while the ATS tranny and fuel system make sure the truck is reliable. Industrial Injection 100hp injectors boost the power, too.
